Family
My family consists of my fiance, my wonderful parents and siblings.
Why did you become a teacher?
I knew I wanted to teach at eight years old. As a child, I had an insatiable curiosity and love for learning. However, it wasn't until I was a student at Marina that I decided I wanted to teach high school. Because I had such supportive teachers who challenged me, I realized that I too wanted to be someone who inspires students to pursue their goals.
Years teaching?
I feel like I've been teaching my whole life! In junior high I was a math tutor for younger students, throughout high school I was a dance instructor, as a college student I was an academic counselor for high school students, after graduation I became a junior high school English teacher, and now finally I've arrived at Marina to teach English and AVID.
Personal Comments/Quotes
My former Latin teacher, Mrs. Harding, shared these words of wisdom with me, "Carpe diem." I've tried to follow her advice ever since.
Interests & Hobbies
My favorite hobby is traveling to new places, particularly overseas, and experiencing new cultures and foods. Since I can't do that every day, I also like to spend my free time cooking (and eating), reading, writing, dancing, listening to music, practicing my Dutch, and hanging out with family and friends.
